*It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Yukio Kawahara Shihan (1940-2011), the technical director and head of the Canadian Aikido Federation.  Kawahara Sensei taught at Vancouver Aikikai for many years, and many of our members were direct students of Kawahara Shihan.  He passing is felt throughout the Canadian Aikido community, and we are thankful for the gifts that he has given us during his time on this earth.  ~Members of Vancouver Aikikai*
